Recap: Wake Forest Cougars vs. Wakefield Wolverines

The Wake Forest Cougars have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 43-33 to Wakefield on Friday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Wake Forest in their matchups with Wakefield: they've now lost four in a row.

Wake Forest's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Audra Hillman, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and five blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Hadley Chang, who scored 11 points.

Wakefield found their leader in underclassman Lyla Bagwell, who scored 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bagwell has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jaya Hamilton, who scored eight points.

Wake Forest's defeat dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Wakefield, their win bumped their record up to 11-5.

Wake Forest will head out on the road to square off against Heritage at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Heritage is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak. As for Wakefield, they will be playing at home against Millbrook at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Millbrook will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 382nd, while Wakefield is ranked 97th).
