Basketball Recap: Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop Comes Up Short

After flying high against Wabasso last Tuesday, Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop came back down to earth. The Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop Thunderbirds took a blow against the St. Mary's Knights on Friday, falling 80-26. The defeat continues a trend for the Thunderbirds in their matchups with the Knights: they've now lost five in a row.

Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for St. Mary's, the win keeps them at an undefeated 14-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop has already played their next matchup (against Sibley East), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. St. Mary's is taking a road trip to challenge New Ulm Cathedral at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. St. Mary's knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 14 games -- so hopefully New Ulm Cathedral likes a good challenge.
