Baseball Recap: McComb Takes a Loss

McComb extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping them down to 7-9. They lost 11-0 to the Poplarville Hornets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-0 on Tuesday.

As for Poplarville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 19-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games.

For Poplarville's part, Chadwick Brown made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Brown posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Ty Keys was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Chase Sones was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

While McComb had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
