Basketball Game Preview: Union Academy Cardinals vs. North Stanly Comets

Union Academy and North Stanly are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Union Academy Cardinals will head out to take on the North Stanly Comets at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Union Academy will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.

It was a proper cat-fight when Union Academy took on Mount Pleasant on Friday. Union Academy took their matchup with ease, bagging a 72-45 victory over Mount Pleasant. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 games by 26 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 80-15, which was the final score in North Stanly's tilt against Albemarle on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Comets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 340th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 103rd).

Union Academy's win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 42.4 points. As for North Stanly, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-8.

Everything came up roses for Union Academy against North Stanly in their previous matchup on January 7th, as the team secured a 51-17 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Union Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
