The St. Mary Academy-Bay View Bengals will be playing in front of their home fans against the Classical Purples at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Classical took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on St. Mary Academy-Bay View, who comes in off a win.
Last Monday, everything came up roses for St. Mary Academy-Bay View on the road against the Townies as the team secured a 56-26 win. Given St. Mary Academy-Bay View's advantage in MaxPreps' Rhode Island basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while the Townies are ranked 41st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Classical was the victim of a tough 70-47 defeat at the hands of the Falcons on Wednesday. Classical has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
St. Mary Academy-Bay View's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.2 points per game. As for Classical, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season.
St. Mary Academy-Bay View didn't have too much breathing room in their game against the Purples in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 46-42 victory.
