Basketball Recap: Justice Paris' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Memorial over Leetonia

Memorial was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They fell 33-25 to the Leetonia Bears. The Red Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bears apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Memorial's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Justice Paris, who posted five points along with seven steals and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Memorial smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Memorial's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Leetonia, with the victory, they broke their 11-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-8.

Memorial wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 72-8 loss against Mineral Ridge on the 7th. As for Leetonia, they will challenge Columbiana at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Columbiana will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something Leetonia surely won't give up without a fight.
