Softball Game Preview: First Coast Christian Knights vs. Harvest Community Warriors

The First Coast Christian Knights will challenge the Harvest Community Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

First Coast Christian is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 20-2 margin over Cedar Creek Christian on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Saints: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, Harvest Community made easy work of Christ's Church Academy on Tuesday and carried off a 14-4 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.

Rebekah Harmer made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. Harmer was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Julia Foti, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Elise Harmer was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Harvest Community was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .323 or higher in six consecutive games.

Harvest Community's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.3 runs over those games. As for First Coast Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
