Monte Vista Christian barely beat Rancho San Juan the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Mustangs blew past the Trailblazers 14-2 on Tuesday. Considering the Mustangs have won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Jackson Haddad tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over 5.1 innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Monte Vista Christian got a massive performance out of Mikie Melenudo, who went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Melenudo is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Brady Cortez, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Monte Vista Christian is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Rancho San Juan, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 16 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Monte Vista Christian beat Rancho San Juan by a score of 11-1 on Thursday.
