Baseball Game Preview: La Canada Spartans vs. Pasadena Bulldogs

The La Canada Spartans are taking a road trip to challenge the Pasadena Bulldogs at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. La Canada's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Pasadena's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

La Canada will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run last Thursday, then bounced right back against Oakwood on Friday. The Spartans blew past the Owls 12-0. The Spartans not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since February 13, 2024.

Will Park and Finn Flowerhogan did most of the damage at the plate: Park scored three runs while going 2-for-2, while Flowerhogan scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave Flowerhogan a new career-high. Brandon Mohaghegh also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

La Canada was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Pasadena came up short against Burroughs on Friday and fell 6-2.

Pasadena saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaleb Derosier, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one double.

La Canada has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Pasadena, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-10-1.
