Flag Football Recap: Evans Comes Up Short

After flying high against Harlem last Thursday, Evans came back down to earth. The Knights and the Lakeside Panthers were almost perfectly matched up on Tuesday, but the Knights suffered a 14-13 defeat. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.

Evans' loss came despite strong showings from Sadie Morningstar and Kyleigh Chase. Morningstar picked up 49 receiving yards and one TD, while Chase picked up 53 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Even if they lost, Evans' defense still kept up the pressure with four sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Mikerria Hudson. She also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with eight.

Among those leading the charge was Halle Carr, who rushed for 86 yards and a pair of scores. Those 86 rushing yards gave her a new career-high.

Evans now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Lakeside, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.

Evans is taking a road trip to face off against Clarke Central at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Lakeside, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 33-13 victory against Harlem on the 18th.
