Notre Dame's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They skirted past the Fontana Steelers 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Titans have posted against the Steelers since April 7, 2023.
Mikey Rodriguez was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off six hits. Rodriguez was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
In other batting news, Katie Correa and Sydney Cramer did most of the damage at the plate: Correa went 2-for-3 with three RBI, while Cramer got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs. That's the most runs Cramer has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Eliana Lomeli, who went 3-for-4 with two runs.
Notre Dame always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fontana only posted an OBP of .367.
Notre Dame's record is now 8-9-1. As for Fontana, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 11-8.
Coincidentally, Notre Dame and Fontana will both be playing Arroyo Valley the next time they take the field. The Titans will head out to face the Hawks at 3:45 p.m. on Monday, while the Steelers will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
