Softball Recap: Chavez Beats Torres for Their Third Straight Win

Chavez entered their tilt with Torres on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Toros 12-3. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won six matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Madyson Herrera made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Zoe Chavez was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Alexis Elizondo, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Chavez was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Torres only posted a batting average of .200.

Chavez's win bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Torres, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chavez will venture away from home to square off against McFarland at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Torres, they will take on Hoover at 3:30 p.m. on the 23rd. The Patriots will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Toros surely won't give up without a fight.
