Baseball Recap: Dexter Southfield Wins High-Profile Contest Against Deerfield Academy

Dexter Southfield faced Deerfield Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. Dexter Southfield came out on top in a nail-biter against Deerfield Academy, sneaking past 5-3. This was a revenge game for Dexter Southfield: when they faced off against Deerfield Academy on Saturday, they had to take a 7-6 defeat.

Chase Hartsell tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Patrick Bryan, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Alex Cantwell also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
