Basketball Game Preview: Eastern Mennonite Flames vs. Hargrave Military Academy Tigers

Eastern Mennonite hasn't had much luck against Hargrave Military Academy recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Eastern Mennonite Flames will square off against the Hargrave Military Academy Tigers at 3:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Eastern Mennonite is headed into Saturday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game last Monday. They were dealt an 88-35 defeat at the hands of Handley. While losing is never fun, the Flames can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 287th, while the Judges are ranked 33rd).

Meanwhile, Hargrave Military Academy suffered their closest loss since November 4, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of Oak Ridge Military Academy by a score of 68-66. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Eastern Mennonite's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Hargrave Military Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 11-11.

Eastern Mennonite suffered a grim 70-50 defeat to Hargrave Military Academy when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Thankfully for Eastern Mennonite, Dante Kearse (who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 17 boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
