Basketball Game Preview: Evans Knights vs. Greenbrier Wolfpack

Evans hasn't had much luck against Greenbrier recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Evans Knights will head out to square off against the Greenbrier Wolfpack at 5:30 p.m. Evans has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 176 points over their last three matches.

Last Tuesday, Evans made easy work of Effingham County and carried off a 55-35 victory. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 20 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Evans to victory, but perhaps none more so than Briyanna Jones, who went 6 for 13 on her way to 12 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. That's the most points Jones has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Chabria Tate, who went 7 of 16 en route to 19 points and five boards.

Meanwhile, Greenbrier can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They took down Effingham County 50-33. The Wolfpack pushed the score to 47-21 by the end of the third, a deficit the Rebels cut but never quite recovered from.

Evans pushed their record up to 16-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Greenbrier, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 6-12.

Evans beat Greenbrier 60-48 when the teams last played last Tuesday. The rematch might be a little tougher for Evans since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
