Wayne County scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 49-48 to the West Jones Mustangs. The War Eagles have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

West Jones' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tootie Lindsey, who threw for 329 yards and four touchdowns while completing 92.9% of his passes. Caleb Holmes was in the mix as well, providing the Mustangs with three TDs.

Wayne County's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for West Jones, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Wayne County will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Stone at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th. As for West Jones, they will head out to challenge Petal at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
