Suggested Video

Wasatch is 0-7 against Skyridge since March of 2017 but things could change on Wednesday. Wasatch will head out on the road to face off against Skyridge at 3:30 p.m. Wasatch is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.9 runs per game this season.

Wasatch took a loss when they played away from home last Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They came out on top against Granger by a score of 8-4. While the Wasps didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-21), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Bridger Shaw was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That double was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Austin Brown was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Wasatch's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't). Grant Mahoney was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Wasatch hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Skyridge got the win against Mountain View on Tuesday by a conclusive 17-4. Considering the Falcons have won four games by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kason Muhlestein was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Rip Roberts, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 5-for-5.

Skyridge has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. Wasatch's record now sits at 6-3.

Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Wasatch hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .374. However, it's not like Skyridge struggles in that department as they've averaged .385. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Wasatch might still be hurting after the 9-1 loss they got from Skyridge when the teams last played back in April of 2019. Can Wasatch avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
