Softball Recap: Powhatan Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Powhatan had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Richmond High School for the Arts Bulldogs a 10-0 shutout. That's two games straight that the Indians have won by exactly ten runs.

Payton Murray was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other pitching news, Natalie Danburg looked comfortable as she tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Murray wasn't the only one making solid contact as eight players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mazie Harmon, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs. Another was Skylar White, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs.

Powhatan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .941. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2025.

Powhatan's record now sits at 12-8. As for Richmond High School for the Arts, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-11.

Powhatan will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bulldogs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
