Tony Montgomery leads a balanced attack to beat Columbus

The Carver Tigers put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They rang in the new year with a 63-51 win over Columbus. Given Carver's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while Columbus is ranked 197th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Carver's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tony Montgomery , who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals. The match was Montgomery 's 13th in a row with at least ten points. Jakiem Richardson was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds.
Carver's victory bumped their record up to 13-0. As for Columbus, their loss dropped their record down to 11-5.
Carver will be playing in front of their home fans against Southwest Atlanta Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Columbus, they will head out on the road to face off against Dougherty at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
