Soccer Game Preview: Shawnee vs. Botkins

The Shawnee Indians are taking a road trip to square off against the Botkins Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Shawnee's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Shawnee fell victim to Tippecanoe and their airtight defense on Saturday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Red Devils. While losing is never fun, Shawnee can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio soccer rankings (they are ranked 141st, while Tippecanoe are ranked 26th).

Meanwhile, Botkins came tearing into Friday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 goals), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Knights.

Shawnee's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5-2. As for Botkins, their victory bumped their record up to 13-1-2.

Shawnee skirted past Botkins 1-0 in their previous matchup back in September of 2020. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
