Basketball Recap: Melba Takes a Loss

Melba lost against The Ambrose School back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Melba Mustangs took a 63-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of The Ambrose School Archers.

It was another big night for Lincoln Mathis, who posted 22 points in addition to seven boards and six steals for The Ambrose School. That makes it three consecutive games in which Mathis has scored at least a third of The Ambrose School's points. Another player making a difference was Tristen Trevino, who went 6 for 13 on his way to 15 points and four steals.

Melba's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-7. As for The Ambrose School, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.

Melba didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 59-58 loss against Parma on the 11th. As for The Ambrose School, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 68-60 defeat against Cole Valley Christian on the 13th.
