Baseball Recap: Grant Takes a Loss

The home team had won the previous two meetings between Grant and Monroe, and Monroe kept the tradition alive. The Lancers fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 8-6 on Friday. The Lancers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Vikings earlier this season, when they won 7-4.

Matthew Gonzalez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3. Jonathan Gonzalez also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Grant has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-3 record this season. As for Monroe, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3.

Grant didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 9-1 victory against Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences on the 2nd. As for Monroe, they have also already played their next game, a 20-0 loss against Verdugo Hills on the 31st.
