Basketball Recap: Oakland-Craig Picks Up 11th Straight Win at Home

A well-balanced attack led Oakland-Craig over Humphrey-Lindsay in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. The Oakland-Craig Knights walked away with a 52-42 victory over the Humphrey-Lindsay Bulldogs. The Knights have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bulldogs, too.

Oakland-Craig's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Briar Ray led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards. Ray has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Bailey Pelan, who went 6 for 12 on her way to 16 points and six rebounds.

Oakland-Craig smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Humphrey-Lindsay only pulled down four offensive boards.

Loss or not, Humphrey-Lindsay got some senior leadership from Claire Korth and Alexis Groteluschen. Korth posted 13 points in addition to five assists and three blocks, while Groteluschen went 5 of 7 en route to 13 points. The dominant performance gave Groteluschen a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hallie Reichmuth, who had six points.

Oakland-Craig's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-2. As for Humphrey-Lindsay, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-4.
