Football Recap: Marshall Piles Up the Points Against Deerfield

Marshall's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Deerfield Demons 49-19. With the Cardinals ahead 35-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Deerfield's loss came despite strong showings from Kai Haines and Otto Ammerman. Haines rushed for 111 yards and one TD on only 13 carries, while Ammerman threw for 132 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only ten passes. Haines really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run.

Marshall's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Deerfield, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-4.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Marshall will square off against rival Cambridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Deerfield is set to face off against their familiar foe Fall River/Rio at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
