The Nokomis Warriors will challenge the Hall-Dale Bulldogs at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Nokomis was handed a nine-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Gardiner 3-1. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won three in a row.
Meanwhile, Hall-Dale put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over Lisbon. Considering the Bulldogs have won four matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Lucy Gray was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Torie Tibbetts was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Emma Perry was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Hall-Dale kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lisbon only managed four hits.
Hall-Dale pushed their record up to 8-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Nokomis, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.
Everything went Nokomis' way against Hall-Dale in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Nokomis made off with a 6-0 win. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
