Football Recap: Winside Wildcats vs. Sandhills/Thedford Knights
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Winside can now relate to. They took a blow against the Sandhills/Thedford Knights on Thursday, falling 46-12. Having soared to a lofty 32 points in the game before, the Wildcats couldn't push the score so high this time.
Maurice Robinson was his usual excellent self, rushing for 192 yards and three TDs while picking up 9.1 yards per carry, and also throwing for 113 yards and a pair of touchdowns for Sandhills/Thedford. Robinson was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 52 yards. Carter Anderson was another key player, gaining 93 total yards and two touchdowns.
Winside has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season. As for Sandhills/Thedford, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-2.
Winside does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sandhills/Thedford, they will take on Anselmo-Merna on Friday. The Knights will need to watch out since the Coyotes have now posted at least 31 points in their last four matchups.
