Basketball Recap: Sophia Stevens' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Southeast Guilford over Northern Guilford

It was a classic North v. South duel when Southeast Guilford took on Northern Guilford on Tuesday. The Southeast Guilford Falcons fell to the Northern Guilford Nighthawks 53-49. The Falcons haven't had much luck with the Nighthawks recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.

Southeast Guilford lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Sophia Stevens, who posted nine points and six boards. Gabby Totten was another key player, putting up 13 points and three steals.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Northern Guilford to victory, but perhaps none more so than Malena DeLisa, who put up eight points along with ten rebounds and eight assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Leena McField, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 16 boards.

Southeast Guilford's defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Northern Guilford, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.

Southeast Guilford wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 50-46 win against Southwest Guilford on the 31st. As for Northern Guilford, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-56 victory against Northwest Guilford on the 31st.
