Basketball Recap: Metro Tech Takes a Loss

Metro Tech extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 21 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-11. They were beaten by the Fairfax Stampede 118-31. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Stampede this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 92-30 back in November.

Despite the loss, Metro Tech still got an impressive performance from Jaylon Corley, who posted eight points and five rebounds. Aaron Hernandez also deserves some recognition as he pulled down his first board of the season.

As for Fairfax, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-4. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 27 points or more this season.

Leading Fairfax to victory were Nickolas Williams and Andrew Evans. Williams earned 38 points, while Evans put up 38 points. Williams has become a key player for the Stampede: the team is 6-1 when he posts at least 20 points, but 2-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Toucet, who scored 12 points.

Coming up, Metro Tech will venture away from home to take on Agua Fria at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Knights will be up against the Owls' rather soft defense (which has allowed 59.75 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Fairfax, they will be home for the holidays to greet Central at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
