Volleyball Recap: Chariho Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with East Providence

Chariho faced East Providence in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Chargers lost 3-0 to the Townies. The Chargers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

While Chariho had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-21, 25-18.

Chariho's loss came despite strong showings from Jaxson Vachon and Kasey Poplaski. Vachon had 15 digs, while Poplaski had 16 assists and five digs. Poplaski is crushing it when it comes to assists: he's posted at least 16 every time he's taken the court this season.

East Providence was led to victory by Ean Williamson and Jordan Rodriguez. Williamson had nine digs and three assists, while Rodriguez had nine digs, six kills, two aces, and one block.

Chariho's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for East Providence, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.

Chariho didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Coventry on the 12th. As for East Providence, they have also already played their next game, a 3-1 victory against La Salle Academy on the 13th.
