Volleyball Recap: Somerset Academy Takes a Loss

Fans were treated to a battle of the Panthers on Monday. Somerset Academy fell just short of Coral Springs Charter by a score of 3-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Somerset Academy of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Somerset Academy took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-17, 19-25, 25-22, 15-11.

Ethan Cruz paced Somerset Academy's offense, picking up 13 kills. Cruz got some help from Simon Morales and his 17 assists. Finally, Arnav Warrier kept Somerset Academy's defense grounded, leading the team with four blocks.

With the defeat, Somerset Academy broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-6. As for Coral Springs Charter, they moved to 3-12 with that win, which also ended their seven-game losing streak.

Somerset Academy has already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Mater Academy Charter on the 8th. As for Coral Springs Charter, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 defeat against Western on the 9th.
