Volleyball Recap: Glenwood Comes Up Short

If Glenwood was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of South Gallia on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tigers fell just short of the Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington Blue Jays by a score of 3-2 on Saturday. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blue Jays apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2021.

Glenwood took Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. The final score came out to 27-29, 25-11, 25-14, 23-25, 16-14.

Daisy Hamilton paced Glenwood's offense, picking up 13 kills. Hamilton got some help from Mya Truitt and her 17 assists. Finally, Hamilton was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high four blocks.

Glenwood has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington, their win ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-5.

Glenwood wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 3-0 defeat against Notre Dame on the 9th. Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington has also already played their next contest (against Manchester), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
