Baseball Recap: Gulf Shores Falls Short of Calera in the Playoffs

Gulf Shores and Calera squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Gulf Shores had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Dolphins have suffered since April 1st.

John Luke Stephens put in work while hitting and pitching. He tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since April 1st. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple.

In other batting news, Price Stephens made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple and one stolen base.

Gulf Shores' loss dropped their record down to 20-14-1. As for Calera, the victory was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 21-15.

While Gulf Shores had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
