Basketball Recap: Stone Bridge Takes a Loss

Stone Bridge lost against Briar Woods back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Stone Bridge Bulldogs were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 66-65 to the Briar Woods Falcons. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Stone Bridge's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Carter Burnes, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 19 points and seven boards, and Sam Rubino, who went 7 for 16 to rack up 15 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Burnes continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

Leading Briar Woods to victory were Devon Pettibone and Patrick Fraim. Pettibone went 6 of 10 en route to 19 points, while Fraim posted 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Finn Gardner, who had 13 points.

Stone Bridge's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Briar Woods, their victory bumped their record up to 7-12.

Stone Bridge didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 84-75 defeat against Loudoun Valley on the 6th. As for Briar Woods, they have also already played their next game, a 58-48 win against Potomac Falls on the 7th.
