Volleyball Recap: John Lee and Nathan Turman Secure Win for Del Norte

Del Norte not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 11th. Everything went their way against the La Costa Canyon Mavericks as they made off with a 3-0 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-0 back in March.

Del Norte was especially dominant in the second set. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-13, 25-21.

Leading Del Norte to victory were Nathan Turman and John Lee. Turman had nine digs and one assist, while Lee had 20 assists. Lee has been hot, having posted 20 or more assists the last six times he's played.

Del Norte couldn't miss and finished the game having scored on 44.7% of their attack attempts. The last time their hitting percentage was this high was back in February.

Del Norte's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-11. As for La Costa Canyon, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season.

Del Norte and La Costa Canyon could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Nighthawks (ranked 87th) will meet Torrey Pines (ranked sixth) at 6:00 p.m. on the 23rd. Meanwhile, La Costa Canyon will challenge Carlsbad at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (162 vs. 4).
