Softball Game Preview: Marin Catholic Wildcats vs. Terra Linda Trojans

Marin Catholic has gone a perfect 10-0 against Terra Linda recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Wildcats are taking a road trip to face off against the Trojans at 4:30 p.m. Marin Catholic is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.

Marin Catholic is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering San Marin just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Wildcats have suffered since March 19th.

Morgan Carlson was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last nine games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Held, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Terra Linda was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They came up short against San Rafael, falling 11-4.

Olivia Offenbach made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Marin Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Terra Linda, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-11.

Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Marin Catholic hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .347. However, it's not like Terra Linda struggles in that department as they've averaged .331. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Everything went Marin Catholic's way against Terra Linda in their previous meeting back in April, as Marin Catholic made off with a 23-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
