Softball Recap: Dayton's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak at Home

Dayton dropped their record down to 9-6 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Columbia Coyotes, falling 13-2. Having soared to a lofty 23 runs in the game before, the Bulldogs couldn't push the score so high this time.

Teagan Culley and Lila Hutchens stepped up to the plate in a big way. Culley went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one RBI, while Hutchens went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

As for Columbia, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-8. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by seven runs or more this season.

On Columbia's side, Taya Riner was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave Riner a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nancy Leahy, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Dayton didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 7-4 loss against Sunnyside Christian on the 2nd. As for Columbia, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 9-6 defeat against Warden on the 1st.
