Baseball Game Preview: Burr Oak Bobcats vs. Climax-Scotts Panthers

Burr Oak is 0-5 against Climax-Scotts since May of 2017 but things could change on Thursday. The Bobcats will be playing at home against the Panthers at 5:00 p.m.

Burr Oak couldn't beat Athens on Tuesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the third inning. The Bobcats lost 14-4 to the Indians. That's two games in a row now that the Bobcats have lost by exactly ten runs.

Burr Oak saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kayden Cole, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Climax-Scotts, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Mendon a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday. Considering the Panthers have won four contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Gavin Eyre made a splash no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Kai Brown was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one run. Jackson Knickerbocker also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Climax-Scotts' victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Burr Oak, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
