Willapa Valley entered their tilt with Ocosta on Saturday with 20 consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with 21. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Ocosta Wildcats 46-44. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 58-41 win two weeks ago.

Willapa Valley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brody Ritzman, who went 6-for-15 on his way to 19 points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Ritzman a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Blane King, who went 6-for-15 en route to 13 points along with five boards and three steals.

Despite the loss, Ocosta still got an impressive performance from Sonny Beard, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 19 rebounds. Beard is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in each of the last six games he's played. Kayden Turner was another key player, going 5-for-11 to rack up 14 points.

Willapa Valley's win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-2. As for Ocosta, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-7.

Coming up, Willapa Valley will welcome Tulalip Heritage at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ocosta, they will venture away from home to face off against Almira-Coulee-Hartline at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Almira-Coulee-Hartline knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 22 games -- so hopefully Ocosta likes a good challenge.
