Basketball Recap: Jocelyn Walker's Big Game Can't Quite Lead New Covenant over St. Margaret's

New Covenant lost against St. Margaret on Friday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The New Covenant Gryphons took a 52-33 bruising from the St. Margaret's Scotties. While losing is never fun, the Gryphons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while the Scotties are ranked 66th).

Several Gryphons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jocelyn Walker, who posted ten points. Walker is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Hannah Edwards, who put up eight points.

New Covenant's defeat dropped their record down to 13-11. As for St. Margaret's, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 20-9.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: St. Margaret's beat New Covenant by a score of 52-32 later that day.
