Softball Recap: Venture Academy Beats Delta Charter for Their Third Straight Win

Venture Academy waltzed into their matchup on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Delta Charter Dragons as they made off with a 12-1 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 18-9 last Thursday.

Savanah Espinoza made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Tiffany Bruss was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Natalie Padilla, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one triple.

Venture Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .560. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .400 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Venture Academy's record is now 4-1. As for Delta Charter, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Venture Academy will take on Humphreys Able Charter at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Delta Charter, they will challenge River Islands at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
