Baseball Game Preview: Barrington Fillies/Broncos vs. Round Lake Panthers

The Barrington Fillies/Broncos will head out on the road to face off against the Round Lake Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Barrington will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

Barrington had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Crystal Lake South on Monday. The Fillies/Broncos were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Gators. The victory continues a trend for the Fillies/Broncos in their matchups with the Gators: they've now won three in a row.

Kayden Schumaker looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Jackson Cavaliero was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Will Renshaw, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Barrington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Round Lake was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 14-2 to Antioch.

Round Lake saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Javier Rolon, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run.

Barrington pushed their record up to 22-11-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Round Lake, their loss dropped their record down to 5-21.
