Baseball Game Preview: Twin Lakes Indians vs. Western Panthers

The Twin Lakes Indians will face off against the Western Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Twin Lakes is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.

Twin Lakes barely beat Winamac the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Indians were the clear victors by an 18-7 margin over the Warriors on Thursday. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Josh Crowell looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.

On the hitting side, Twin Lakes got a massive performance out of Carson Wagner, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Wagner is becoming a predictor of the Indians' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-8 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Dold, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI.

Twin Lakes kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Western came tearing into Wednesday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Bronchos. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 9, 2018, but that streak is no more.

Western's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Twin Lakes, their win bumped their record up to 13-8.
