Weddington extended their home winning streak to five games thanks to a huge performance from Owen Conklin. The Warriors walked away with a 3-1 win over Ardrey Kell on Tuesday thanks in part to Conklin, who had 21 digs and two aces. He is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had ten or more in each of the last four games he's played.
Weddington had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 25-17, 25-17, 25-13.
Meanwhile, Covenant Day posted their closest victory since April 13, 2024 on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Metrolina Christian Academy 3-2.
Covenant Day wouldn't go down easily and took Metrolina Christian Academy into a fifth set where they got it done with a 13-point win. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-20, 25-17, 16-25, 15-2.
Covenant Day's win came from a few key players Weddington will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ben Keefer, who had 42 assists and three digs. That's the most assists he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Duh Mang, who had 18 digs and two aces.
Weddington's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Covenant Day, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.
Weddington came out on top in a nail-biter against Covenant Day in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
