Baseball Recap: Erie-Prophetstown Comes Up Short

Erie-Prophetstown lost against Newman Central Catholic back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Panthers lost 15-7 to the Comets. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Erie-Prophetstown got a good showing from Braedyn Frank, who pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Those zero earned runs gave Frank a new career-low.

On the hitting side, Erie-Prophetstown saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Braylon Swertfeger, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. Eli Heyvaert also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Erie-Prophetstown's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Newman Central Catholic, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 11-1-1.

Coming up, Newman Central Catholic will head out on the road to take on Eastland at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Erie-Prophetstown will be paying especially close attention to the Comets' game: after the Comets faces off against the Cougars, they'll take on Erie-Prophetstown again at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
