Basketball Game Preview: Alto Yellowjackets vs. Grapeland Sandies

The Alto Yellowjackets will head out on the road to square off against the Grapeland Sandies at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Alto will bounce into Tuesday's match after beating Lovelady, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. Alto walked away with a 68-57 win over Lovelady on Tuesday. Given the Yellowjackets' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 628th, while the Lions are ranked 1259th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Grapeland didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Hooks on Saturday, but they still walked away with a 64-58 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Sandies.

Alto has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.7 points per game. As for Grapeland, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.

Alto might still be hurting after the 74-51 loss they got from Grapeland in their previous matchup back in January of 2020. Thankfully for Alto, Deco Bryant (who shot 5-for-8 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 34 points and ten boards) won't be suiting up this time.
