Recap: Flour Bluff Hornets vs. Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial Eagles
In what's become a running theme this season, the Flour Bluff Hornets gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. Everything went their way against Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial as Flour Bluff made off with a 58-33 win. The win was nothing new for Flour Bluff as they're now sitting on three straight.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Deshyria Brown, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Delapena, who scored five points.
Flour Bluff's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-5. As for Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost ten of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-16 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Flour Bluff will take on Carroll at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Carroll will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 815th, while Flour Bluff is ranked 107th). As for Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial, they will head out on the road to take on Corpus Christi Moody at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Corpus Christi Moody focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 last Tuesday.
