Football Recap: Wheat Ridge Starts Season with Defeat on the Road + How To Watch

Wheat Ridge had to start their season on the road on Saturday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They were outmatched by the Lakewood Tigers and fell 69-0.

Wheat Ridge didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Isabella Barron and Baylie Strimple.

Saylor Slaughter was the offensive standout of the game as she threw for 155 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 34 yards. Laney Gonzales made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Wheat Ridge and Lakewood will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Farmers will square off against rival Steamboat Springs at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Lakewood is set to face off against their familiar foe Standley Lake at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
