Softball Preview: Narraguagus Knights vs. Sumner Tigers

Narraguagus and Sumner are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Narraguagus Knights will head out on the road to square off against the Sumner Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Narraguagus is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road dating back to last season.

In what's become a running theme this season, Narraguagus gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. They put the hurt on Machias with a sharp 12-4 win.

Autumn Peterson made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Peterson was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-5.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Trinity Morris, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI, a stolen base, and a run. Another player making a difference was Paidyn Cashman, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, Sumner faced Washington Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. Sumner lost 10-3 to Washington Academy. Sumner has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Narraguagus has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for Sumner, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
