Morristown-Beard (Morristown, N.J.) jumped out to an early lead against
Sussex County Tech (Sparta, N.J.) and never looked back on the way to a 34-20 victory on Saturday.
The Crimson scored seven points in the first quarter. Morristown-Beard scored on a
Cory Betz touchdown run.
MB was up 20-6 at the half after taking the lead on a Betz touchdown run in the first quarter.
Betz was the top performer for the Morristown school. The senior running back ran for three touchdowns.
The Crimson also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 28-12.
The loss comes after Sussex County Tech defeated Immaculate Conception 26-12 last week. With the win Morristown-Beard extended its winning streak to three games.
Sussex County Tech (2-3) will play a Freelance game against Newark Academy next week, while Morristown-Beard (3-2) will take on Immaculate Conception also in a Freelance game.
