St. Paul Catholic dropped their record down to 20-3 on Friday, which also ended the team's nine-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Woodland Regional Hawks, falling 12-0. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Falcons, who until this matchup were averaging 3.26 runs allowed.

St. Paul Catholic saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isabella McCulloch, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

As for Woodland Regional, the win keeps they at an undefeated 23-0. Considering they have won 21 contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

On Woodland Regional's side, Ella VanAlstyne made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. VanAlstyne has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Woodland Regional let Julia Rowley and Paige Chiaramonte run wild. Rowley went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run, while Chiaramonte went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most doubles Rowley has posted since back in April. Chloe Cervone was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.

St. Paul Catholic has already played their next game, a 5-2 victory against Southington on the 2nd. As for Woodland Regional, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 13-0 win against Notre Dame Prep on the 2nd.
